Medieval Studies

Medieval Publishing from I.B.Tauris

I.B.Tauris is extending its diverse academic publishing programme to make space for greater emphasis on the Middle Ages alongside the Modern and Early Modern periods. This enables us to build on the success of recent introductory and general titles, including Mark Atherton’s The Making of England: A New History of the Anglo-Saxon World, Gideon Brough’s The Rise and Fall of Owen Glyn Dŵr, and short histories of the Normans and the Anglo-Saxons by Leonie Hicks and Henrietta Leyser, respectively.

To this end, we’ve appointed an Editor in Medieval Studies. Anna Henderson was formerly Editorial Director of University of Exeter Press, where she acquired titles on a wide range of humanities subjects and is particularly known for her work on the well-regarded Exeter Medieval Texts and Studies series.

Anna, in her new role as Editor-at-Large, will work in close conjunction with IBT’s Tom Stottor – Commissioning Editor for, respectively, Byzantine studies and medieval studies in the Islamic World – concentrating primarily on acquisitions relating to the Middle Ages in Western Europe. We are in the process of establishing a number of distinct monograph series with a cultural and social emphasis to sit alongside the existing Library of Medieval History series and attract exciting new scholarship.

We offer a serious independent publishing option for medievalists: peer review, an international focus and a prompt and personalised service. For further details, contact Anna Henderson or consult our proposal notes on the I.B.Tauris website.
